1963 Chevy C10 Rust Repair by Metal Art Customs in Ohio
My 1963 C10 truck runs very well and is a good daily driver, but the cab has suffered a lot of rust over the years. A busy work schedule has not allowed me time to make the repairs myself. I decided to send the truck to a well respected body shop in Ohio that specializes in restoration of classic cars and trucks. I've watched them do great work for several years and they have won my confidence.

My cab has severe rust in all the usual places that occur in these 1960-66 trucks. Cab corners, rockers, door sills, door bottoms, etc. Patch panels are available for almost every area where I have rust. This picture shows all the patch panels I've bought over the last 3 years. I knew this day would come.
Transportation to the body shop in Ohio was arranged through a shipping broker, Mercury Auto Transport. Rates were very competitive. Service from the broker and the transporter was 5 star. The truck traveled 600 miles on a huge trailer and arrived at the shop in Ohio within 24 hours.
The windshield, rear glass and the majority of the interior was removed by me prior to shipping. I then strapped the windshield back in place to protect the cab during transport in the event of rain or bad weather. I did what I could to prepare the truck so the body shop could get right down to work.

The truck exterior will keep the weathered patina appearance, but the rusted out areas will be repaired. The cab will require a lot of repair. The doors will get new bottoms and some areas will need new door skin. The A-pillars have holes at the top corners where they meet the roof. I sent along original A-pillars that I salvaged from a junk 1961 cab.
